Abstract
Each Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) site assumes an obligation to collect and make available data to characterize the ecosystem which the site represents. This document is the LTER guide for assembling meterological data. Preliminary statements of standard meteorological measurements for LTER sites were published in 1979 before LTER sites were selected (TIE,· 1979). The present document defines, for the LTER program, the measurement and reporting standards for meteorological data. Standards are based on LTER documents, the needs at existing LTER sites, other standards existing in the literature, and the substantial experience of current LTER scientists.
