Abstract
The historical “facts” involved in the formation and existence of New Spain are not obscure. The conquering race represented a nation, Spain, that had arrived at unity only recently. It was a nation that, having solved serious internal problems of civil disorder, church dominance, and foreign rivalry, was strongly motivated and supremely confident when faced with the challenge of implanting her society upon another soil.
