Conversation continued: Felipita liked to explore things as a child, she was a very mischievous girl who enjoyed her time outdoors than inside the house doing the chores. She had many adventures outdoors. Stories about the dead, her time during la guerra (WWI). She moved to Taos in 1919 when the war was over. She witnessed how people, families, and children died of influenza as she was working as a house maid. She took care of a toddler whose mother died of influenza. Muchos fueron enterrados vivos, los muertos no los arreglaban como ahora. Stories about los penitentes y la morada en Arroyo Hondo, muertos, espíritus, and other stories about her family's experience with the supernatural and lugares donde estaba enterrado un tesoro-plata. Antes la gente era muy católica, los santos, el pecado original, los paganos, fanegas de dinero que su papá cuidaba. She didn't focus on money as many people do, becoming greedy: 'el dinero no me importa'. Her views on the younger generations, society focuses on money, youth's lack of interests in books and educational information. Libro en los Ranchos de Taos: stories about the Indian wars-The Comanches against the Spaniards. Stories of how the French and Spanish soldiers killed Indians and sold Indian children to European and Spanish families. She read a 'redotero' [a diary/inventory of assets]. The Indian kids took the names of their owners.
