Conference Photographs

The UNM-LAKH project hosted in Albuquerque, NM, the first international meeting among the institutions that are participating in the project. The conference is entitled "Cooperation for Digital Harvesting of Scientific Research," and was held at the UNM Zimmerman Library from June 11 to 13, 2008. Meeting objectives:

- LAKH partners meet and share information regarding their respective institutions and the impacts open access.
- Partners review progress of the project and sub-projects.
- Evaluation and proposals for improvement of project performance.
- Workshops to discuss technical, administrative, and content issues.
- Specialized panels based on common themes from the above.
- Strategies for future activities and new collaborative projects and partners.
- Tours of UNM facilities and meeting with staff from related departments at UNM to strengthen our partners' links with UNM.

The University of New Mexico also hosted the 2007 TICFIA Grantee Conference. The purpose of this annual conference is to bring together representatives from ten currently funded TICFIA projects and special guests. TICFIA attendees will have a chance to scrutinize progress in their individual projects and present strategies for linking their own projects with the goal of ensuring mutual support and enhancing future collaborations. Their participation will be strengthened by special sessions devoted to critical and challenging themes. Discussions will be opened by speakers and faculty members from renowned scientific institutions. Themes such as challenges in accessing international information for research and concerns on accessing information within an international frame of cultural diversity are considered pivotal to the discussion promoted in this Conference in order to empower the TICFIA projects perspective and performance.
