Join us in a conversation with Ana Irma Rivera Lassén, a trailblazing Afro-Puerto Rican attorney, political leader, poet, writer, and steadfast champion for human rights. A former member of the Puerto Rican Senate (2021-2024) with an outstanding record of leadership and advocacy in the areas of discrimination based on gender, sexuality, and race, and of socioeconomic and cultural rights. She served as the first black woman, first openly lesbian, and third woman to head the Bar Association of Puerto Rico (2012-2014).An activist since age 16, Rivera Lassén co-founded the first feminist organization of the second wave (1972), the first organization in defense of LGBTTIQ+ rights (1974), and the first organization of black women (1992).
