Description
This workshop is aimed at promoting Yucatec Maya language courses offered by the Latin American and Iberian Institute at UNM. The workshop is divided into three sections. The first section provides a general overview of the Maya language (including its sounds, speakers, and language vitality status) and explains its relevance to the students' fields of studies. The second section focuses on teaching basic greetings and phrases used in everyday conversations. The last section is designed as a fun activity, including a loteria (bingo) game with words in Maya. This workshop is intended for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in learning a foreign language.
