Is thrombus shell composition linked to stroke etiology?

Abstract

This is an original work aimed at comparing the thrombus shell content across different stroke etiologies. Our results suggested that thrombi from cardioembolic (CE) and embolic stroke of undetermined source (ESUS) had similar shell content, while those from large artery atherosclerosis (LAA) showed differences, particularly in fibrin and platelet content.
