This report compares federal census and Bureau of Business Research estimates of retail sales growth across New Mexico counties and districts between 1939 and 1948, highlighting regional differences in economic development. It also reviews current business conditions and includes an extensive study of New Mexico's mining industry, examining mineral production, employment, wages, and the economic importance of petroleum, metals, potash, and coal.
