Abstract
This dissertation is a history of consolidation of the Mexican Revolution under President Plutarco Calles (1924-28). From his earlier experience, especially as President Alvaro Obregon's Interior secretary (1921-24), Calles formed the view that the Revolution was a comprehensive process transforming Mexico from an agrarian into a machine civilization. As president, he furthered that process by enlarging the work of social, economic, and political consolidation Obregon had started.
