Abstract

The purpose of this study is to present Thomas Benton Catron as he appeared in private and as a business man. His political activities will be the subject of another monograph; consequently no attempt has been made to cover them here. To the best of the author's knowledge, there is no published material concerning Catron's life with the exception of newspaper sketches, a short article in the Congressional Directory of the American Congress, and incidental mention in local histories and magazine articles.
