Abstract
Numerous notes in the thirteenth and fourteenth century public rolls granted private persons special privileges within the royal forests of England. The purpose of this study has been to determine: (1) the types of grants given, (2) to whom such gifts were presented and (3) the value of the gift to both the giver and receiver.
