Abstract

There comes a time in the life of every man when he needs a father, desperately, not as a disciplinarian, not as a breadwinner, but as a comrade-in-arms. At a time of crisis, a man often feels that a wife or mother’s understanding is not enough. He needs the unemotional, strong shoulder or ardently listening ear of a respected male as a resting place in his anxiety. Man’s need to prove himself a man among men is not universal, but where the need is strong, the lack of this proof can be soul destroying. This play has been written to show the efforts of these needs upon the lives of individual and different young men.
