Abstract
Quantitative cloud-point analysis allows for control of membrane characteristics like macro-void structure within a hollow fiber. Cloud-point is the point when instantaneous demixing occurs in membrane fabrication. Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane solution was tested with various solutions of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and water to find the point of instant membrane formation. Currently there are no well-defined methods for measuring cloud-point. The data in this spreadsheet represents turbidity data using 12 and 15 ml samples in a turbidimeter. The transmittance data was gathered from a spectrophotometer using a laser and photo sensor. Transmittance data was from a spectrophotometer in the lab measuring percent transmittance of lights.
