Abstract
Manipulation of human subjects in social scientific research entails some ethical conflicts that scientists must consider along with the technical problems in designing their studies, Such conflicts in a way become aggravated when the investigations --usually experiments-- are conducted in educational settings, In this connection, the present study concerns itself with four main topics: (1) relationships between research and ethics: (2) problems with manipulation of human subjects, (3) need for and problems with the principle of informed consent, and (4) issues surrounding the use of experimental deception.
