Abstract
The purpose of this study was three-fold: (1) to analyze New Mexico school financial accounting practices on the basis of sound principles, (2) to present a system of accounting for New Mexico schools in accord with sound accounting principles, including necessary legal changes to implement the new system, and (3) to suggest procedures necessary for the present New Mexico school accounting practices to be in agreement with sound principles of school financial accounting.
