Abstract
The purpose of this study is to survey the educational opportunities provided for handicapped children by the public schools in New Mexico in 1954-1955.
This study also seeks to list the legal regulations governing the establishment of such school programs for handicapped children in different cities and towns in the state; the number of children who are receiving instruction in the different school districts within the state; to evaluate the present facilities in regard to their adequacy of educational training for these children; and to determine what five selected cities in the United States are doing for handicapped children in their public schools.
