Abstract

Statement of the problem. The purposes of this dissertation were: (1) to investigate the relationship between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics of college women physical education majors, (2) to investigate whether differences exist in the relationship between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics within three groups of women physical education majors whose stated favorability toward gymnastics was low, middle, or high, and (3) to investigate whether differences existed between attitude toward and performance in gymnastics of rural-reared and urban-reared women physical education majors.
