Abstract
The purpose of this study was to create and empirically test a theoretical model describing compliance structures utilized by the coach, teacher, and principal to control subordinates. The problem was to determine whether compliance structures used to control subordinates in a previous role socialize a coach or teacher to behave in certain ways on becoming a principal. In addition, background and situational variables were analyzed to determine if these variables had an effect on the leader behavior of public school principals.
