Abstract
The study of a differential equation that is found in the study of the scattering of waves from an inhomogeneous media and in atomic collision theory is presented. Several integral formulations for obtaining approximations to the solution are discussed and studied. Means of determining the phase shift in electron scattering problems are presented, and two methods for obtaining the reflection and transmission coefficients are developed and discussed.
