View towards the Cidade Alta from the Cidade Baixa of the Lacerda Elevator and sculpture by Mario Cravo. Connecting the Cidade Baixa and Alta, the Lacerda Elevator has become a landmark of Salvador. The first hydraulic elevator was inaugurated in 1872 and the construction today consists of a 75 meter cement tower housing various electric elevators.Vista em direção à Cidade Alta, partindo da Cidade Baixa, do elevador Lacerda e a escultura de Mario Cravo. Ligando a Cidade Baixa à Cidade Alta, o elevador Lacerda tornou-se o ponto de referência de Salvador. O primeiro elevador hidráulico foi inaugurado em 1872 e a construção consiste hoje em uma torre de cimento de 75 metros de altura, abrigando vários elevadores elétricos.
