Description
Candomble faithful dancing and invoking the orixá (deity) Oxossi (syncretized as St. George or St. Sebastian). He is the hunter orixá and his color is green. Slavery uprooted the slaves from the African continent but seemed to unite and mix their cultures in Brazil with additional influences from existing Indian and Portuguese cultures. Syncretism has affected all of Afro-Brazilian culture but most especially religion.Fiéis do Candomblé dançando e invocando o orixá (divindade) Oxossi (sincretizado como São Jorge ou São Sebastião). Ele é o orixá caçador e sua cor é verde. A escravidão arrancou os escravos do continente africano, mas pareceu unir e misturar suas culturas no Brasil, com adicionais das culturas indígenas e portuguesas existentes. O sincretismo tem afetado toda a cultura afro-brasileira, mais especialmente as religiões.
