7) Mountain ranges near the town of Monte Verde in the Serra do Espinhaço region. The majority of the arraiais, or mining establishments, were concentrated in central Minas Gerais, yet to the northeast, the town of Diamantina (formerly called Arraial do Tijuco) flourished when diamonds were discovered in this region in the early Eighteenth century.7) Cadeia de montanhas perto da cidade de Monte Verde, na região da Serra do Espinhaço. A maioria dos arraiais, ou estabelecimentos mineiros, estiveram concentrados na área central de Minas Gerais. Contudo, no nordeste, a cidade de Diamantina (anteriormente chamada Arraial do Tijuco) floresceu quando foram descobertos diamantes nesta região, no início do século XVIII.
