View of Uberlândia (MG) in the triângulo mineiro. Western Minas Gerais is dominated by the cerrado or savanna, with a stunted vegetation characterized by scattered short trees, bushes and grasslands). The tropical c1imate in this area includes a warm, prolonged, dry season (winter) and a rainy season (summer). The soil in the cerrado is deficient in minerals, but with proper treatment can be very fertile as is the case of the triângulo mineiro (the westernmost tip of MG) where large soybean, corn and coffee plantations are now thriving.Vista de Uberlândia (MG) no Triângulo Mineiro. O oeste de Minas Gerais é dominado pelo cerrado, uma vegetação rala caracterizada por pequenas árvores, arbustos e campos. O clima tropical nesta área apresenta uma estação quente e seca prolongada (inverno) e uma estação chuvosa (verão). O solo do cerrado é pobre em minerais, porém, com tratamento adequado pode se tornar fértil, como no caso do Triângulo Mineiro (no extremo oeste de Minas Gerais) onde grandes e prósperas plantações de soja, milho e café estão sendo cultivadas.
