Church of São Bento in Olinda (PE). Almost 90% of all Brazilians are Roman Catholic, yet a large majority do not practice their faith, as Brazilian society is becoming more secular. In recent years, the Church has become very active socially in favor of the poor, revindicating and running programs that address education, agrarian reform, health, or community infrastructure.Igreja de São Bento em Olinda (PE). Quase 90% da população Brasileira é católica romana, ainda que a grande maioria não seja praticante, pois a sociedade brasileira está se tomando cada vez mais secular. Nos últimos anos a Igreja tem se tomado muito ativa socialmente, reinvindicando e estabelecendo programas que visam a educação, reforma agrária, saúde ou melhor infra-estrutura para comunidades de baixa renda.
