Sunset over the caatinga. Despite the cyclical droughts, which bring thirst, hunger and often death, the rains always come and the people of the sertão bravely hold onto the land they love. The economic feudalism which still exists in this region must be confronted and socioeconomic programs must be designed to help the people stay and survive, yet gradually improve their welfare.Pór-do-sol na caatinga. Apesar das secas cíclicas que trazem sede, fome e muitas vezes a morte, as chuvas sempre vêm e o povo do sertão bravamente permanece na terra que ama. O feudalismo económico que ainda existe nesta região deve ser confrontado e programas sócio-económicos devem ser planejados para ajudar o povo a permanecer aí e sobreviver, mas gradualmente prosperando.
