Description
Leftover flowers after New Year at Barra beach in Rio de Janeiro. The flowers are thrown into the sea at midnight in hope that the New Year will be a lucky one. Theses items are offered to Iemanjá (syncretized as Our Lady of Conception) and orixd of the salt waters. There are signs and vestiges of offerings to the orixds everywhere in Brazil. Rarely does anyone touch them out of respect or fear.Restos de flores depois da noite de Ano Novo na Praia da Barra no Rio de Janeiro. As flores são jogadas ao mar, à meia-noite, na esperança de que o Ano Novo seja um ano de sorte. São oferecidas a Iemanjá (sincretizada como Nossa Senhora da Conceição), um orixá de águas salgadas. Existem sinais e vestígios de oferendas a orixás em todos os lugares do Brasil. Em sinal de respeito ou medo, raramente alguém toca estas oferendas.
