The federal government still remains strong in Brazil, but the constitution passe d in 1988 has granted state and municipal governments larger politicaI and fiscal powers. Many vital sectors of the economy (railroad, steel, etc.) are run by inefficient parastatal companies and President Collor only recently began efforts at privatization.Quadro mural, protestando contra a idéia de subdivisão do estado da Bahia. O governo federal ainda permanece forte no Brasil, mas a constituição aprovada em 1988 deu aos governos do estado e do município maiores poderes políticos e fiscais. Muitos dos setores vitais da economia (estradas de ferro, aço, etc.) são administrados por ineficientes companhias paraestatais e o Presidente Collor só recentemente começou seus esforços para a privatização.
