Speaker addressing the first socialist congress held in 1988 by the PDT (party of populist politician Leonel Brizola) in Brasília. Brazil today has numerous politicaI parties, but most of them are mere alliances of politicaI convenience rather than ideologically based instruments of governance. The 1990 presidential elections, as well as those for state governments, clearly reflected this problem.Locutor anunciando o primeiro congresso socialista que teve lugar em 1988, organizado pelo P.D.T. O Brasil de hoje tem vários partidos políticos, mas em sua maioria, são meras alianças de conveniência política do que instrumentos baseados em ideologia de governo. As eleições presidenciais de 1990, como também para as estaduais, claramente refletiram este problema.
