A barge loaded with huge logs and trucks near Santarém (PA). There has been much debate about the current and future development of the Amazon region. Ecological devastation, the proper role of multinational mining and agricultural firms, migration policy, and land tenure are all issues that the Brazilian government must address if it wishes to coherently develop the region and preserve one of the world's great natural wonders.Uma barcaça carregada de enormes troncos e caminhões perto de Santarém (PA).
