Description
Camelo (street vendor) in downtown Sao Paulo. The city continues to be a migrant metropolis, as thousands of poor nordestinos (as people from northeastern Brazil are called) pour into the city enticed by the hope of finding a job in industry. There are already over two million from this region, many ending up living in some of the most destitute areas of the city and surviving on less than $100 a month. Those who cannot find a steady job, find themselves joining the ranks of the underemployed and becoming street vendors, temporary workers, etc.Camelo (vendedor de rua no centro de São Paulo). A cidade continua sendo uma metrópole de imigrantes, à medida que milhares de pobres nordestinos (como são chamadas as pessoas do nordeste do Brasil) se despejam dentro da cidade, motivados pela esperança de encontrar trabalho na indústria. Já existem hoje mais de 2 milhões de pessoas desta região do país, muitos terminando por viver em áreas da cidade completamente destituídas de recursos e sobrevivendo com menos de $100 por mês. Aqueles que não conseguem encontrar trabalho fixo acabam se juntando aos desempregados, tomando-se vendedores de rua, trabalhadores temporários, etc ..
