Description
A boia fria ("cold meal eater," referring to the meal that these seasonal workers prepare in the early morning which is already cold when they eat it later) during lunch time. Much of the labor force on the coffee plantations today, like other seasonal crops such as oranges and sugarcane, is composed of boia friar, who roam from one plantation to another, wherever there is work. With little job security, these marginalized workers compose a significant percentage of the decreasing rural labor force (Brazil's population is today over 70% urban) and their situation continues to challenge government authorities.Um bóia-fria ("refeição fria", referindo-se à refeição que estes trabalhadores de temporada preparam cedo pela manhã, a qual já está fria quando comem) durante a sua hora do almoço. A maior parte da força de trabalho das plantações hoje em dia, como outras colheitas, como de laranjas e cana-de-açúcar, é composta de bóias-frias, os quais perambulam de uma plantação a outra, onde houver trabalho. Com pouca segurança de trabalho, estes trabalhadores marginalizados compõem uma porcentagem significante da decrescente força de trabalho rural (atualmente a população brasileira é acima de 70% urbana) e sua situação continua a desafiar as autoridàdes governamentais.
