Avenida Paulista, in downtown Sao Paulo, is lined by elegant offices, banks and apartment buildings. For many it is a symbol attesting to the success of Brazil's largest industrial and financial center. One of the largest cities in the world, with a population over 10 million inhabitants, Sao Paulo is a city of contrasts, where numerous ethnic and social groups coexist. The city is the capital of the state with the same name, the economic cornerstone of Brazil. BRAZIL'S ECONOMIC CYCLESA Avenida Paulista, no centro de São Paulo, é constituída por escritórios elegantes, bancos e edifícios residenciais. Para muitos, é um símbolo atestando o sucesso do maior centro financeiro e industrial do Brasil. Uma das maiores cidades do mundo, com uma população de mais de 10 milhões de habitantes, São Paulo é uma cidade de contrastes, onde numerosos grupos étnicos e sociais coexistem. A cidade é a capital do estado com o mesmo nome, o sustentáculo económico do Brasil.
