The author will endeavor to portray the importance of this seed as a primitive food and the extent to which the wood was employed as a building material. In addition it will be shown how the pitch was of importance both as an adhesive and as a water proofing material and, finally, the mythology and ceremonial usage of pine will be outlined in order to set forth the extent to which the genus was revered by the early inhabitants of this region.
