Abstract
The middle Rio Grande Conservancy District was established in 1926, and occupies a portion of the Middle Rio Grande Valley one hundred and twenty-five miles in length and averages three and six tenths miles in width. It extends from White Rock Canyon, fifty miles north of Albuquerque, to the north of line of the Bosque del Apache Grant, fifteen miles south of Socorro. This area, which lies in Sandoval, Bernalillo, Valencia, and Socorro Counties, has an altitude ranging from 4500 feet to 5500 feet. A general arid condition exists in the area with an average precipitation of about eight inches per year.
