Abstract
An impetus was given to the study of the Culicinae by the discovery of Sir Ronald Ross in 1898 that some mosquitoes are the vectors of the malarial parasites. A large amount of work has been done with the species belonging to the tribe Anophelini and it has been learned that vectors of the malarial parasites of human beings belong to this tribe.
