Abstract

An analysis of economic conditions in Tucumcari, New Mexico, commissioned for its MainStreet economic development program. The MainStreet district and regional trade area are described and illustrated. Selected demographic, economic, and housing data for Tucumcari, Quay County, and the entire Eastern Plains region (Curry, Guadalupe, De Baca, Quay, and Roosevelt counties) are examined. Using location quotients and pull factors, the author assesses the local economys strengths and weaknesses. The report concludes with a discussion of opportunities and challenges for the area. Illustrated with tables, charts, and maps.'
