Abstract

This study evaluates the economic contribution of horse racing to New Mexico by estimating the direct, indirect, and induced impacts generated by out-of-state racetrack patrons. The report concludes that horse racing generated approximately $217 million in economic activity, supported nearly 6,000 jobs, and produced almost $11 million in state and local tax revenues during 1988.
