Abstract

The report highlights the strong economic and demographic relationship between the Belen-Los Lunas area and the Albuquerque metropolitan region. Approximately one-third of employed residents in the primary service area commuted to Albuquerque for work, and local population growth was closely tied to expansion within the Albuquerque Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA). The study notes that most local industry was service-oriented and commercial in character, with relatively limited manufacturing activity.
