Abstract

The study examines the history, economics, resource base, environmental impacts, employment effects, and taxation of New Mexico's uranium industry at a time when the state had become the leading uranium-producing region in the United States. The report was designed to inform state energy and fiscal policy during a period of rapid expansion in nuclear-power development and heightened interest in uranium production.
