Abstract

This report is a comprehensive reference guide documenting socioeconomic research conducted in and about New Mexico during the first half of the 1970s. Prepared by Sue Smith and Jim McCormick of the University of New Mexico Bureau of Business and Economic Research for the Committee on General and Specific Research Needs of the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors, the inventory was developed to identify, organize, and make accessible a broad range of economic, demographic, environmental, planning, and resource-related studies undertaken by federal, state, local, university, and private-sector organizations. The publication contains hundreds of annotated entries describing completed and ongoing research projects, including information on subject matter, sponsoring organization, type of publication, and completion dates. Topics include economic development, energy, mining, transportation, water resources, land use, housing, recreation, environmental impact assessment, public finance, labor markets, population trends, minority affairs, and regional planning.
