Background Information:

These video recordings are part of the Center for Southwest Research Anselmo Arellano collection. The recordings conducted mostly by Anselmo Arellano were of regional events that Arellano was closely associated with. In particular are the recordings done on the work by Arsenio Cordova of theatrical performances of Los Pastores with the many performance events he and his Taos group, Sangre de Cristo Liturgies, did throughout the state. Also included related to the Pastores are interviews and collected video documentary and commercial productions on Los Pastores or La Pastorela.

Arellano's intentions were to document and transfer community traditions and artistic expressions for educational purposes. Most of the recordings were part of Arellano's research on the history/culture of New Mexico.

Original VHS tapes were digitized and uploaded onto UNM Digital Repository by CSWR Archivist, Samuel Sisneros.
