Abstract
My thesis is concerned with the master planning and design of a resort village near the town of Ruidoso, New Mexico. Due to the overcrowded conditions and lack of expansion space in the town of Ruidoso, N.M ., a new resort village has been begun. The owner of this new village wishes to develop a concentrated village with an atmosphere found in most major ski resorts in the United States. After gathering information pertaining to the site, soil conditions, local conditions, vegetation, weather conditions, and other important data, I have created a master plan for Alto Village. Included with the design of the village are the designs of a condominium, a two family commune, a three family commune, and a recreational community center. These buildings will set the style and the use of materials that I feel will be appropriate for the entire village. With more recreational time available to the average family, new resort villages of this type will become more important. They will also help to develop New Mexico's future economic growth.
