Abstract
The operations of seven environmental groups which are currently active in New Mexico and Colorado are discussed, including their history, successes, and failures. Structure, financial support, and individual priorities are described in detail, as well as response to social and racial issues. A common thread in the testimony of surveyed executives has been the declaration of need for dedicated personnel to broaden the activities of the organizations. Comparisons and contrasts in the groups' operations are pointed out for those who seek environmental information and data and for those who may be interested in working with such groups.
