Abstract
A diversity of opinion exists concerning the concept of class stratification. Various writers in the social sciences have defined class in specific terms, but the criteria each writer has used as a basis for definition, have varied from author to author. Some have depicted class primarily in terms of existing economic conditions, others have stressed political or social factors, and in certain instances biological factors as determinants of class differentiation.
