Abstract
Since the construction of the Student Union on the University of New Mexico campus, there has been no survey conducted of the accounting system used in the Student Union. In this survey an attempt will be made to bring to light possible flaws in the accounting system and to point out ways of more adequate internal control, and to fully analyze and describe the accounting system. According to information obtained from other Universities there has never been a survey made of a Student Union Accounting system. There is no standardized accounting system in use at the present time for Student Unions. However, at the present time the Illini Union of the University of Illinois, Urbana, Illinois, and the Purdue Memorial Union of Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, are jointly working on a standard set of accounts and statements for College Unions, but it will be possibly sometime before a definite system is approved and published.
