The edition in which is here indexed is that of Samuel Gili Gaya in Clásicos Castellanos, Volume 43 and 51, published in Madrid in 1940.

All entries are listed the first time they appear in the novel and subsequent references to the same entry are included only if additional information is given. Entries are listed in Spanish followed by a translation or note of explanation of parentheses...Only page references are made to entries such as the adventures of Obregón or the numerous moralizing digressions since most of these cover more than one page.
