Abstract
No comprehensive study has been made of the recent political history of New Mexico and the personalities that have influenced its governmental processes. The purpose of this thesis is to make a contribution in this field. Ever since man first discovered that he could better accomplish his ends through cooperation, he has been intrigued by the art of politics. Equally fascinating has been the study of the best means of organizing and the state. Much has been written on politics and government from the time of the Greek philosophers to the present day, but history shows that the forms and morality of both have been determined largely by the environment and personality. Any study of politics must take into account these two factors.
