Abstract

This evaluation report demonstrates that a selective traffic enforcement program (S.T.E.P.) implemented in Gallup, New Mexico, successfully decreased local vehicle accidents. By targeting peak hours and high-risk patrol routes, the initiative countered a sharp city-wide increase in traffic incidents to achieve a 19% reduction in total accidents and a 26% decline in injury-causing accidents within the specified project areas.
