Abstract

This evaluation examines the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office FY 1978 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program in Albuquerque's South Valley. Analysis of accident and citation data found that despite substantial increases in traffic citations, the program did not significantly reduce total, fatal and injury, or alcohol-related accidents, suggesting that limited manpower and inconsistent patrol coverage reduced its effectiveness.
