Abstract

"I have a custom of writing pieces for graduating high-school seniors. The pieces all bear the names of those for whom they were written. Some are quite difficult and were not chosen by the students to be included on their senior recitals. These six pieces were written at Annacarla between 2009 and 2011, with the exception of “Ghosts,” which was written in 2001, before I purchased Elizabeth Willink’s house as a composing and teaching retreat. The piece is included here on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the attacks of September, 2001.”
